For the last couple of years we have been debating about JR(Jereme Rogers) on his break up from skateboarding. We ask ourselves, why did he retire? We can keep on asking ourselves questions and answer them with our own thoughts. We even might doubt him or perhaps down him because of the love/appreciation we have for skateboarding. Maybe he lost the love for it? Or maybe he felt the need of a greater challenge since he had reached all his goals as a Pro skateboarder. People are quick to judge on others actions and decision making because they may have an affect on them. But think about it, do you really feel what he's thinking? The dude literally came from the bottom up. I remember reading an interview about his early teenage years, where he wouldn't even go home at times and would sleep in parks, benches, subways, and friends houses. He went through all of that just to skate a spot the next day. Now thats love and dedication!
I'm not going lie, I was upset when I first heard that he had retired to rap. As a matter of fact, I didn't wanna believe it. But as I heard more of his thoughts through his raps, I felt on what he was feeling/thinking. To him its more than a road to riches. It's a road to love and self satisfaction that is also known as success. We should know that success isn't a destination. I'm sure JR has read/heard all the negativity about his new lifestyle that he has chosen, and I'm sure he soaks it in and uses it as motivation. He's been in that situation before when he picked up a board and people didn't believe that he would become the type of skateboarder he became.
All in all... That proves that if you try and please everybody in this world, you will never be successful.
So why down a person that has amazed and inspired many people in the skate game through his innovative skateboarding?
Stay positive people.
Much Love!
P.S. You may never know, We might have to welcome him back like they did MASE.
